He previously played for Mathare United and Tusker FC in his home country. When joining Moss, the team already had one Kenyan player John Machethe Muiruri.
In July 2009, Otieno came to infamy in Scandinavia when committing a serious and very obvious dive playing for Moss FK in a game against Løv-Ham Fotball.[1][2]
Otieno has played 16 international matches for Kenya (as of June 20, 2008).[3]
Otieno is member of a football family, his uncle is the famous Mike Okoth Origi, his father Austin Oduor Origi was member of Gor Mahia, his other uncles Gerald Origi and Anthony Origi were defenders in Tusker FC.[4]
